Razer is committed to going even greener, and we’re not talking about the color of the famous three-snake logo here. The brand has indeed unveiled a ten-year plan resolutely turned towards ecology. As you know, the hardware industry is far from being green. It must be said that between mountains of computer waste and the production of different components, the environment is not often a major concern for manufacturers. Razer is however trying to remedy this, and we remember the various commitments made by the brand, whether it is its packaging more respectful of the environment (without chemical glue and all in recycled cardboard as you can see below. below in our presentation of the Razer Viper 8K), or the sale of Sneki Snake plush toys for the benefit of an NGO fighting against deforestation.
The brand is now second, with the launch of the #GoFreenWithRazer operation. Behind this name, hides a lot of commitments in favor of ecology over the next 10 years. These objectives include the use of 100% renewable energies by 2025, the use of recycled or recyclable materials for all products and full carbon neutrality by 2030. These good practices will also be implemented. within Razer offices where the brand is committed to eliminating the use of single-use plastics. Another example: the European HQ in Hamburg is already fully supplied with electricity from sustainable sources.
To achieve this goal, the brand is also appealing to its fans, encouraging them to bring back their old products in any Razer Store so that they are recycled. In the future, all devices will be made from PCR plastic (a material obtained by recycling milk bottles, for example), while their packaging will all be FSC certified (paper and cardboard from sustainably managed forests). But that’s not all, thanks to its profits, the brand has developed an investment fund (zVentures) which will actively support startups specializing in the environment and sustainable development.
