Exciting news, everyone! January has arrived, marking another graceful journey of our world around the Sun. As you peep into the ambiguous horizon of 2025 with the anticipation of a groundhog sensing Spring, we are diligently preparing your next opportunity to re-explore Faerûn.
Patch 8 is progressing smoothly. Before we invite you to participate in the forthcoming stress test and challenge its limits, we are perfecting final adjustments and collaborating with our partners to ensure seamless cross-play testing. We aim to open the doors to the Patch 8 stress test by the month’s end.
Today’s community update serves as a reminder of the features debuting in our final major patch and introduces the forthcoming photo mode to celebrate some of your shared creations during our journey. Could someone pass a tissue? It can’t truly be the end, right?
Imagine a world healed from strife, where Xbox, PlayStation, and PC gamers unite beyond their former barriers. With Patch 8, regardless of platform, we shall all convene in BG3, bound by the quirky joys of embracing oddities and tossing goblins from precipices.
During the Patch 8 stress test, registered players on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC can experiment with cross-play by creating or joining a lobby and inviting friends via the Larian Network. As we introduce this extensive technical feature, we are eager to observe how you handle cross-play during the stress test, enabling us to make minor tweaks before Patch 8 is officially unveiled!
While cross-play with Mac will be available at launch, sadly, Mac players will be unable to partake in the current stress test.
If you haven’t yet registered your interest to join the Patch 8 stress test, help us fine-tune the game by clicking the banner featuring the charming fellow below!
Planning to join the stress test from an Xbox? You will need the Xbox Insider Hub App—download it to become an Xbox Insider and participate in the playtest once the stress test is live.
The final major update for Baldur’s Gate 3 is on the brink of release, bringing eagerly awaited features such as cross-play, photo mode, and 12 new subclasses. Discover more details in Community Update #30.
In addition to new features, we continue refining animation glitches, resolving bugs, such as:
- Addressed a savegame issue with incorrect Umbral Gems for the Gauntlet of Shar.
- Corrected a bug causing a 0% loading screen stall when joining modded multiplayer sessions.
- Your character will no longer mistakenly think Shadowheart is deceased when conversing with Viconia.
- Halsin will now make an appearance at your camp in Act II upon rescue, even if you skip tiefling celebrations.
- Improved Adamantine Forge performance.
- Minthara will now comment on the Emperor’s reveal.
- Cerys will no longer engage in conflicts with Minthara from distant locations. No more eager beaver.
- We’ve reminded Minthara that ‘knocked out’ isn’t equivalent to ‘deceased’, improving her presence at Moonrise Towers.
- Prevented companions’ dialogues from being cut short after Gale alone sacrifices himself at the finale.
- Fixed issue preventing Wyll from commenting during Astarion’s recruitment dialogue at the beach with a blade to your throat.
- Barcus won’t be obstructed by items like cauldrons and bottles when speaking at Last Light.
- Removed third-party mods warning, replacing it with clearer messaging.
- The Mod Verification window will prompt regardless of multiplayer game connection requests.
Many more fixes included! And rest assured, our bug-fixing efforts persist.
Soon, you’ll have 12 new pathways to explore in Baldur’s Gate 3. A new subclass is being introduced for each of the 12 game classes, complete with new VFX and animations teased in Community Update #31.
Have you tried them all yet?
When urged not to meddle with the uranium.
With Patch 8, photo mode makes its entrance. Prepare to smile for the lens, or find solace in deep contemplation like Karlach gazing into the distance over past missteps.
While traversing the Sword Coast, toggle photo mode on/off, experimenting with various options for your party, even during combats. Arrange them to your preference, alter facial expressions for the setting, and manipulate the camera, lens, and scene settings.
During dialogues and cinematic scenes, you won’t be able to reposition the camera or party but can apply several post-processing effects like color grading, frames, and stickers—whether you’re wandering Baldur’s Gate or sealing a kiss with a loved one.
To provide a sneak peek at photo mode poses, we pay homage to some of your acclaimed memes, moments, and masterpieces. Explore them below, and don’t forget to appreciate the original creators!
