Greetings, Commanders!

Welcome to another installment of our Developer Corner. Before we dive into today’s topic, we want to clarify the distinction between our two primary communication formats to manage expectations effectively.

Developer Diaries

  • Provide comprehensive insights into features that are largely finalized and currently undergoing refinement.
  • Are published as we approach an official update or release date.
  • Offer a platform for community Q&A, allowing us to identify any overlooked details.
  • May result in immediate hotfixes or be integrated into upcoming “War Effort” patches.

Developer Corners

In contrast, these posts serve a different strategic purpose:

  • They focus on gathering specific feedback on early-stage concepts.
  • They are designed to be concise and direct.
  • They may or may not feature visual aids or screenshots.
  • The features discussed are experimental; while they provide a glimpse into the future, their inclusion in the final game is not guaranteed.
  • These are typically spontaneous and are scheduled whenever a developer has a specific mechanic they wish to test with the community.

Army Headquarters & Tactical Deployment

Regarding the evolution of Army HQs: the current mechanical flow maintains the standard process of forming armies and assigning generals. However, we are introducing a new tactical layer: the ability to embed a General directly into a specific division within that army.

Deployment Interface

Division Assignment

Once deployed, the General projects a specialized “Area of Effect” on the battlefield. Divisions operating within this proximity benefit from the General’s unique command abilities. We are currently expanding the roster of available buffs and skills for this system.

Command Radius

This proximity comes with significant risk. Should the division hosting the General be encircled and neutralized, that leader will be captured by the opposition.

General Captured

Losing a high-ranking officer triggers new gameplay opportunities for the original owner. You will unlock specific mission types, such as daring commando raids, to facilitate their rescue and return to the front lines.

Rescue Operations

We are actively fleshing out these recovery mechanics and the accompanying ability suites. We want to hear from you: what creative methods or clandestine operations would you like to see implemented for rescuing your captured commanders?
