By most accounts, Prey runs fairly properly on PC. It’s a reduction after the – at finest – inconsistent efficiency of Dishonored 2, the final title by builders Arkane. There is one space, nonetheless, that appears to be an exception to this rule.

Our assessment of Prey is underway and shall be prepared quickly. In the meantime, put together to combat some typhones with our Prey abilities guide.

That space is the reactor management room, an expansive stage towards the top of the sport. After clean efficiency elsewhere, Reddit person RAWD3AL abruptly discovered he was having issues, and began a thread questioning if he was alone. It’s drawn a few dozen feedback from different gamers reporting the very same difficulty (together with one from console-land). Our cheerful rivals at PCGamer additionally had bother.

It’s not clear what causes the issue. RAWD3AL says he “revisited the area much later and it ran perfect”, which suggests it is likely to be attributable to a quest the participant has after they first arrive within the stage.

It’s value noting that this hasn’t affected everybody. Fraser Brown, who’s engaged on a full assessment for SE7EN.WS, says he didn’t have any issues within the reactor room.

Like many of the Internet, our tech reviewer Matt Purslow was usually more than happy with Prey’s performance. It’s comprehensible that Dishonored 2’s points would not recur provided that Prey is made by a distinct staff in a distinct engine, however we are able to additionally think about that publishers Bethesda might need cracked the whip after Arkane’s final title – which was in any other case glorious – was so overshadowed by stories of shoddy optimisation.
