Sony’s flagship console has claimed the top spot in the market, leading in both total revenue and unit sales.
According to November data, the PlayStation 5 became the best-selling console in the United States, dominating in both unit volume and dollar sales. The Nintendo Switch, which had maintained a strong market lead for several months, slipped to second place across both metrics. These findings were reported by Circana analyst Matt Piscatella.
Since its 2020 debut, the PS5 has consistently seen high demand, bolstered by a compelling lineup of platform exclusives. Meanwhile, the Switch has historically set blistering sales records, remaining a top contender throughout the year thanks to the enduring appeal of Nintendo’s core franchises.
This market shift in November is attributed to several key drivers: aggressive Black Friday promotions and the traditional year-end shopping surge. Additionally, the release of the latest blockbuster in the Call of Duty series served as a major catalyst, further accelerating interest in the PlayStation ecosystem.
