“Pirates of the Caribbean” will receive a full reboot without Johnny Depp
This was announced by the series producer Jerry Bruckheimer. The next film will tell a new story with new characters.
It is also reported that previously the franchise authors considered a film in the “Pirates” universe with Margot Robbie in the lead role. Her participation in the reboot cannot yet be denied, but the likelihood is decreasing against the success of “Barbie”.
One of the reboot scenario options was already written by the author of “Chernobyl” and “The Last of Us” Craig Mazin, but the work was halted due to last year’s Writers Guild strike. Mazin later told LA Times in an interview that Disney liked the script, although it seemed strange.
There are no other details about the new “Pirates”, including release dates, yet.
