Olivia Rodrigo Is Headed to the White House For an Important Cause

Olivia Rodrigo’s a big shot! The pop star revealed via President Joe Biden’s Instagram post on Tuesday (July 13) that she’s headed to the White House Wednesday. And she’s doing it for a very good cause — to help get COVID-19 vaccines in arms.

The announcement came when the president shared a photo of his younger self and captioned the snap, “I know this young person would’ve gotten vaccinated, but we’ve got to get other young people protected as well. Who’s willing to help?”

The “Good 4 U” singer responded, “i’m in! see you tomorrow at the white house!” The commander in chief replied to Rodrigo, “You bet!”

The White House and Rodrigo’s team tell Billboard that the singer-songwriter will be meeting with President Biden and Dr. Fauci. During her visit, she’ll “record videos about the importance of getting young people vaccinated,” which will include answering questions that people may have about the vaccines.

A White House official says that her visit is part of a “continued push to get more young people vaccinated” via social media and celebrity influencers. To date, 159.5 million people have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the CDC, while 184.3 million have received at least one dose.

According to Rodrigo’s team and the White House, the videos she’ll film during her visit will be available on both her social media channels as well as the White House’s.
