Official: Microsoft has shut down the studios that created Hi-Fi Rush, Prey, and Redfall

Today, Microsoft has shut down four studios, which it acquired three years ago after a $7.5 billion deal with ZeniMax. Studio representatives have already confirmed this information. Redfall’s support has been terminated in one day, promised DLC will not be released, and the fate of the release of Hi-Fi Rush on Switch is unknown.

All of these studios were part of Bethesda: Arkane Austin was responsible for developing Prey and Redfall, while Tango Gameworks developed Hi-Fi RUSH, The Evil Within, and Ghostwire: Tokyo.

Also affected by the cuts were Alpha Dog Studios (Mighty Doom) and Roundhouse Games, which will be absorbed by Zenimax Online and continue to support The Elder Scrolls Online.

Such a sudden decision is hard to believe, especially given the successful release of Hi-Fi Rush. Moreover, there are rumors of another round of layoffs at Bethesda.
