Nintendo Signals That Metroid Prime 2 and Pikmin 2 May Not Be Coming to Switch Online After All

Nintendo Switch Online Retro Library

Whether you interpret Nintendo’s response as a definitive “no” or a “not yet” is up for debate. Metroid Prime 2 is widely regarded as one of the console’s standout experiences, and it would be surprising if Samus’ second adventure didn’t eventually join the library, particularly following the critical success of Metroid Prime Remastered and the hype for the upcoming Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

Pikmin 2 presents a slightly different scenario, as it is already available for individual purchase on the eShop along with the original Pikmin. However, dual availability isn’t unprecedented for Nintendo; Link’s Awakening, for example, is available both as a modern remake and as a retro title via NSO.
