Nintendo has officially addressed the debate surrounding the mandatory censorship applied to the Switch and Switch 2 versions of Dispatch.

The acclaimed superhero odyssey, Dispatch, finally made its debut on the Nintendo Switch family of consoles earlier this week. While many fans were eager to experience the game on a portable platform, the launch was met with frustration. Unlike the PlayStation 5 and PC versions—which allow players to toggle mature content like nudity—the Nintendo iterations are strictly censored with no option for adjustments.

In a statement provided to the press, Nintendo clarified that the content adjustments were not their direct doing. “Nintendo mandates that all software on our platforms receive ratings from recognized independent bodies and comply with our regional content guidelines,” the company explained. “While we do notify our partners if their project fails to meet these standards, Nintendo does not actively modify third-party content. Furthermore, we do not publicly disclose the specific criteria or internal discussions regarding these content determinations.”
