It’s Moneybagg Yo’s time on Billboard’s Rap Airplay chart as his single “Time Today” reaches No. 1 on the chart dated July 3. The song ascends from No. 2 in its 14th week thanks to a 5% boost in audience impressions in the week ending June 27, according to MRC Data.
The new champ gives Moneybagg Yo his first leader on his eighth appearance. The rapper, who hails from Memphis, Tenn., has made steady improvements on the radio ranking in the past year. He posted his first pair of top 15 results in 2020, with “All Dat,” a collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion, rising to No. 13 in February and “1, 2, 3” featuring Blac Youngsta, peaking at No. 11 in July. His first top 10 came with his previous single, “Said Sum,” in November, which achieved a No. 4 peak the next month.
“Time Today” is the lead single from Moneybagg Yo’s album A Gangsta’s Pain, which also represented a career milestone for the rapper. The set became his first No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts.
Beyond its new victory on Rap Airplay, “Time Today” retains its crown on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart for a second week to secure its status as the week’s most-played song on monitored R&B/hip-hop stations. Similar to its Rap Airplay situation, “Time” is Moneybagg Yo’s first leader on that list, just outdoing the No. 2 peak of “Said Sum” last December.
On other radio charts, “Time Today” continues its ascent. It seeks to add another No. 1 to its arsenal on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, which measures the most-heard songs at the radio format by audience impressions. There, the track advances 3-2 with a 3% gain to 18.7 million in audience in the week ending June 27. On Rhythmic Airplay, meanwhile, the single lifts 20-18 through a 15% surge in plays in the same period.
Gains across the multiple charts help “Time Today” push 30-28 on the all-genre Radio Songs chart. The track marks his second appearance on the list, and highest-charting effort, after “Said Sum,” which produced a No. 35 best.
While “Time Today” maintains its momentum, next single “Wockesha” is already beginning its radio run. It debuts at No. 24 on Rap Airplay and skips 40-34 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay list, picking up 13% in audience to 3.4 million in the latest tracking week. The track is an obvious single choice, as it became a breakout streaming success from A Gangsta’s Pain – having already reached No. 5 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs chart and No. 18 on the corresponding all-genre ranking upon the album’s release.
