Rappers spitting over club beats must be the most exciting trend on the East Coast right now. Over in Newark, Bandmanrill and the producer Mcvertt have fused drill flows with Jersey club production, and in Philly a whole set of rappers, including Zahsosaa, have made a signature style out of rapidly trading verses on kinetic, sweaty beats. “Stripper Anthem” will make you want to embrace the mantra of Zahsosaa’s previous song, which commanded the listener to “shake that shit.” The two red hot cities connect on this new single, where the light voiced raps of Zahsosaa are laid over a Mcvertt beat complete with bed creaks, pulsing drums, and a pitched-up Giveon sample. I’ll admit that this style does not usually produce great technical rapping, but Zahsosaa stands out with a melodic delivery that gives off shades of early Lil Uzi. But really these tracks are more about creating a club-like atmosphere than cranking out perfect lines. Take the music video for “Stripper Anthem,” which exists only to show off tons of asses and energetic hip swinging dances you will want to practice in the mirror. It’s a good ass time.

With artists releasing songs at a fast and furious pace, it’s difficult for the average hip-hop head to keep track of it all—no matter how tapped in they are. That’s why we created The Ones, a daily post to highlight the song you need to hear.
