Less than a week after a triumphant main stage set at a full-capacity Lollapalooza in Chicago, Limp Bizkit have canceled their summer tour. The theater sprint by the 1990s nu-metal survivors — dubbed the “Limited Last Minute Post Pandemic Popup Party Edition” — was slated to run through an August 24 show at the Palladium in Los Angeles.
However, after making it through just four dates, the band announced over the weekend that beginning with Friday night’s (August 6) gig at the Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park, New Jersey, the planned 12-date outing was off. “Out of an abundance of caution and concern for the safety of the band, crew and most of all the fans, the Limp Bizkit show this Monday and the remaining August tour is being cancelled,” the wrote in a statement on their official site. “Refunds are available at their points of purchase. All tickets purchased online will be automatically refunded.”
At press time a spokesperson for the band could not be reached for comment about what led to the tour’s cancelation. “Unfortunately tonight’s Limp Bizkit show at Stone Pony Summer Stage has been postponed,” the venue wrote on Facebook just hours before the show was slated to take place, promising that a new date will be announced “shortly.”
According to Rolling Stone, singer Fred Durst posted an Instagram Story shortly after the scotched Pony show to dispel rumors that guitarist Wes Borland was having health issues. “Let us be clear: 1. Wes Borland does not have Covid. 2. The system is seriously flawed,” Durst wrote. “3. We don’t care much about the BS… We care a lot about you… Dad vibes coming soon.” Borland also reportedly denied the rumors in his own Story, writing, “I’m not sick… No seriously. No matter what you’ve read, I don’t have Covid. I’m fine. Thanks.”
At press time it was unclear if the tour cancellation will impact LB’s planned run of September festival dates, which includes a Sept. 5 slot at Rocklahoma, as well as appearances at the Sept. 10 Blue Ridge Rock Festival, Sept. 24’s Rebel Rock in Orlando and Sacramento’s Aftershock Festival on Oct. 7.
In the meantime, the band is teasing a new song, “Dad Vibes,” which they previewed at the end of their Lolla set, an appearance that helped push their streams up nearly 30% from the previous week.
