“Let Them Review‑Bomb”: Nikita Buyanov Isn’t Afraid of the Flood of Negative Steam Reviews for Escape from Tarkov

Soon players will be able to share their thoughts on EFT in Valve’s store.

The full release of the hardcore shooter Escape from Tarkov is approaching, and the head of Battlestate Games has been giving interviews. The game will be available on Steam, and in a recent discussion with PCGamesN the studio chief addressed the phenomenon of “review bombing” (the inundation of negative reviews).

Over the years, players have amassed numerous complaints about the creators of Escape from Tarkov, and many expect that on the game’s Steam release day they might voice all those grievances in reviews.

Nikita Buyanov said the developers have no particular plan for that scenario, but they are not intimidated by the possibility of a “bombing”:

We don’t have a specific strategy [to counter review bombing]. We simply want to release the game — for the players. To put an exclamation mark in Tarkov’s story and finally give players access to the endgame content.

The head of Battlestate Games explained there’s a small portion of people who dislike the developers, and the studio expects some may decide to “bomb” EFT with reviews on Steam at launch:

Look, a huge number of people have been playing Tarkov for a very long time. Among that large community there’s a small percentage who hate us. Will they go and bomb the game with reviews? Well, let them. Steam has procedures to deal with that. If there are people who want to bomb us — let them bomb, we’ll see what comes of it. We’re doing our job and will keep doing it for those who stand with us. The Steam release isn’t about reviews or scores; it’s for people who want to play through Steam.
