Marvel is channeling major 1980s nostalgia with the announcement of a premium hardcover collection featuring classic Indiana Jones comic books. Revealed this past Wednesday, Indiana Jones: The Further Adventures will span two luxurious “leatherette” volumes, gathering both the official film-to-comic adaptations and the beloved original spin-off series.

Throughout the 1980s, Marvel released comic book versions of the iconic first three Indy films: Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Temple of Doom, and The Last Crusade. Beyond these adaptations, the publisher also launched a monthly ongoing title, The Further Adventures of Indiana Jones. Spanning 34 issues between 1983 and 1986, the series expanded the archaeologist’s lore by blending familiar cinematic faces with entirely new, original exploits.

While Dark Horse Comics previously reprinted these stories in a three-volume omnibus set, those editions have become increasingly difficult—and expensive—to acquire. Currently, resellers on Amazon are listing the out-of-print collections for prices ranging from roughly $200 to over $799. Scouring the aftermarket on eBay for original single issues or full lots proves just as daunting for collectors, with many sets fetching steep premiums.

This new collection serves as a definitive archive, showcasing legendary work from industry titans like John Buscema, John Byrne, David Michelinie, Dennis O’Neil, and Walt Simonson. These premium volumes arrive complete with leatherette binding, sophisticated debossed covers, and integrated ribbon bookmarks—though, quite predictably, no fedora is included.

Both volumes of Indiana Jones: The Further Adventures are slated for release on Sept. 29, with each book priced at $75.
