This early focus on optimization aligns with Larian’s established methodology. Much like Baldur’s Gate 3 and its predecessors, the next Divinity is expected to launch via Early Access. Vincke maintains that while this approach “demands additional development resources, it ultimately yields a more polished and superior game.” Unfortunately, the current RAM crisis seems to be amplifying that workload.
Despite these technical headwinds and the recent discourse regarding Larian’s limited use of generative AI in conceptual stages, the studio remains undeterred. While the industry waits to see how hardware availability stabilizes, the “RPG masterminds” are pushing forward with their ambitious vision.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting updates since the project’s brief reveal at The Game Awards 2025. Given the studio’s pedigree, expectations for the new Divinity are understandably sky-high.
Reflecting on the industry’s evolution, the Baldur’s Gate 3 director noted that some nuances have been “lost in translation” since the project’s announcement, adding, “It would be a missed opportunity for us not to investigate the potential of emerging technologies.”
