Koei Tecmo Hints at Return of “Nostalgic Game” — Fans Expect Dead or Alive

Koei Tecmo has signaled that a “nostalgic title” might be slated for a 2026 revival. The teaser emerged during a recent interview with Famitsu, featuring the head of the publisher’s AAA Game Studio.

Yosuke Hayashi offered the following revelation:

“Our studio will continue to pioneer new projects. However… could it be that a certain nostalgic favorite is finally making its return?!”

Fans were quick to speculate, noting that the list of candidates is relatively short. The overwhelming majority are holding out hope for Dead or Alive 7. With over 10 million units sold across the franchise and a vibrant community on platforms like Reddit and X, the series remains a significant commercial asset.

Although the last mainline entry arrived in 2019 to mixed critical reception, there is a palpable desire for a series resurgence. While titles such as Toukiden, Monster Rancher, and Captain Tsubasa are occasionally mentioned, the spotlight is firmly fixed on the return of DOA.
