Intel teams up with AMD to stand against ARM
The two competing tech giants have formed the x86 Ecosystem Advisory Group alliance to work together on enhancing the x86 architecture.
Apple with its M-series chips and Qualcomm, who recently entered the PC market with Snapdragon X Elite ARM processors, pose a significant threat to x86 processors and consequently to the companies developing them.
The exact method of how the improvement of x86 will be carried out has not been specified yet, but it’s known that cross-compatibility between Intel and AMD platforms will be introduced.
Other major industry players have also joined the alliance: Broadcom, Dell, Epic Games, Google, HP, Lenovo, Linux Foundation, Meta*, Oracle, and Red Hat.
It’s too early to predict the outcome of this collaboration, but as consumers, we will definitely benefit from the race of architectures.
