Legendary game designer Hideo Kojima has expressed his desire to see the video game-inspired film Predator: Badlands adapted back into the medium that influenced it.

Please note: This article contains minor spoilers for Death Stranding 2.

Late last year, Kojima took to social media to praise the vision behind Predator: Badlands. He remarked that the film signals a “fresh trajectory for global entertainment,” driven by a rising class of creators who have woven the “memes” of anime, manga, and gaming culture into the fabric of Hollywood cinema.

The film’s director, Dan Trachtenberg, has been vocal about his creative debt to the gaming world. He previously identified titles such as Shadow of the Colossus, Monster Hunter, and Prince of Persia as key touchstones for the movie’s mechanics and atmosphere. Trachtenberg has even admitted he would love to see a Badlands game come to fruition—a sentiment Kojima now echoes.

In a recent feature with Wired, Kojima was asked which cinematic property he would most like to transform into an interactive experience. “I recently watched Predator: Badlands,” Kojima noted. “It felt remarkably game-like—especially the concept of traveling with Elle Fanning on your back.” He also pointed to the television series Last Samurai Standing as a project with significant gaming potential, though he clarified that while it’s a “cool” idea, he might not be the one to develop it.

Upon seeing Kojima’s comments, Trachtenberg responded enthusiastically on Twitter with a succinct: “Yes please.”

Of course, for those following the development of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, the irony of Kojima’s comment isn’t lost. The maestro is already working extensively with Elle Fanning, whose character has been revealed as the evolved form of the “Bridge Baby” Sam Porter Bridges carried in the original game. While a Kojima-led Predator title is a tantalizing prospect, most fans remain eager to see him continue pushing boundaries with his own original intellectual properties.
