Although the title didn’t clinch the “Game of the Year” award, it remains the definitive 2025 release for many enthusiasts. The game’s standing on OpenCritic recently saw an uptick, rising from an already impressive 94 to a stellar 95.
Supergiant Games’ latest rogue-like masterpiece has long held the title of 2025’s most acclaimed project, outpacing contenders such as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (92), Hollow Knight: Silksong, and Donkey Kong Bananza (91). Following a wave of updated reviews, Hades II now shares the podium with industry giants like Elden Ring, Red Dead Redemption 2, Astro Bot, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
On OpenCritic, its 95-point score has earned it the ninth spot in the platform’s historical rankings. While Hades II also boasts a 95 on Metacritic, a higher volume of reviews there places it just outside the top fifty.
