GTA Online: Deeper Integration with Discord
This year, Rockstar Games launched an official server on Discord, and last year they held a quest offering a limited-time avatar decoration in the form of a Los Santos ring.
It seems that the collaboration between the companies has not ended, and we can expect a deeper integration of the platform in Rockstar projects. With the release of the Software Development Kit, developers can incorporate what is called Discord Rich Presence into their games. This feature allows players to see what others are doing (like participating in a Cayo Perico heist; console users will understand), send and receive invites, and directly join friends’ sessions. Tez2 reports that this functionality has already been added for GTA 5 and RDR 2, but it hasn’t been activated yet. However, when it is enabled, users will have the option to disable it in the RGL settings.
The same insider believes that R* could utilize the SDK tools to write messages in GTA Online Enhanced on PC. This would make traditional text chat unnecessary, resolving one of the main issues of this version.
By the way, if you use Discord, you’re welcome to join the local GTA.com.ua community.
