Howard shared that the conversation fundamentally changed as they began conceptualizing the DLC. “We were looking at the negative feedback and started asking ourselves: ‘What if the journey didn’t actually stop? How would we even implement that?'”
Despite the successful launch of expansions like Broken Steel, which famously allowed players to survive the finale and continue exploring the Capital Wasteland, Howard remains modest about the execution. “We went back and tried to find the most seamless way to extend the narrative. I’d probably give us a passing grade on that—it worked, but we had to scramble to make the story feel continuous,” he concluded.
