More than a year after its premium release on PS4, Ghost of Tsushima is back on PS5 in a version called Director’s Cut. Not that the developers of Sucker Punch were to take things away from the PlayStation 4 version (the name being more of a marketing reflection), but there was still something to tell us. This time, Jin Sakai will go to a new island, that of Ikki, which will be unlocked not at the end of his journey, but after a few hours of play. After a chance encounter with Mongols other than this those of Khotun Khan, our ronin will go to this little-known place to go and defeat the tribe of the eagle. In the general opinion, the extension enjoys a better control with more condensed missions certainly, but which are never repeated. The story also surprises, as Jin Sakai is seen as the invader instead of being seen as the savior of the land. As for the gameplay, it remains the same, nothing has changed since the PS4 version and the fights are still as enjoyable with its system of multiple counters. On Metacritic, Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut receives 88% average rating (for a total of 59 reviews), which is 5 points higher than the PS4 version which had received 83% in 2020.
