A tech enthusiast has curated a remarkably immersive and nostalgic gaming setup.
A player known as KobraKay87 recently treated the Cyberpunk 2077 community to a glimpse of Night City through a vintage lens, sharing gameplay captured on a legacy display.
By dusting off a Samsung Syncmaster 1200NF—a high-end CRT monitor from the early 2000s—they demonstrated how CD Projekt RED’s futuristic RPG translates to analog hardware.
Driving this retro-modern hybrid is a powerhouse PC equipped with a GeForce RTX 4090 and an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor. To bridge the generational gap, the enthusiast utilized a StarTech DP2VGA2 adapter to connect the modern GPU to the vintage screen.
The game runs at a resolution of 1280×960 (using DLAA), locked at a fluid 85 FPS without any performance dips. The video colors are entirely natural; I only used an in-game ReShade to introduce subtle VHS-style noise and chromatic aberration for that authentic CRT aesthetic.
The full demonstration is available for viewing within the Cyberpunk 2077 community at the following link.
