Modder Showcases VR Version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Immersion in the world of Zelda is about to reach an entirely new level.

Flat2VR has unveiled a gameplay trailer for its highly anticipated modification that brings a full virtual reality experience to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Key features of the project include:

  • Full stereoscopic rendering with 6DOF (six degrees of freedom).
  • Comprehensive support for hand and body tracking.
  • Intuitive motion controls for world interaction, allowing players to physically solve puzzles or kindle fires.
  • An optional third-person perspective mode.
  • High compatibility with other community creations—BetterVR modifies only the game’s code without altering core data, meaning most existing mods should remain functional.

The “Zelda BOTW VR” mod is scheduled for release on December 30th. Furthermore, Flat2VR has announced that the project will be open-source.
