Fortnite players exploit V-Bucks loophole via Game Pass

Amidst rising hardware costs and Game Pass price hikes, Xbox owners have found a rare silver lining in 2025. Following the integration of Fortnite Crew into the Game Pass ecosystem, savvy players have discovered a clever maneuver to secure 1,000 V-Bucks for a mere $1.

Fortnite Crew is the battle royale’s premium monthly service, providing subscribers with exclusive cosmetics and V-Bucks for the in-game shop. Now that Crew access is bundled with Game Pass Ultimate, a unique opportunity has emerged: even those with an active Fortnite Crew membership receive a bonus stash of 1,000 V-Bucks upon activating their Game Pass subscription.

This “deal” is made possible by Xbox’s ongoing promotional offer, which allows eligible users to claim their first month of Game Pass Ultimate for just $1. Compared to the standard monthly rate, this entry-level price provides an incredibly low-cost gateway to high-value rewards.

The loophole exists because the 1,000 V-Buck bonus is triggered regardless of the player’s current subscription status. As a result, users are signing up for the $1 Game Pass trial, collecting the premium currency, and immediately canceling the recurring subscription to avoid future charges.

While Game Pass Ultimate access remains valid for the duration of the month even after cancellation, the primary draw for many remains the digital currency. Considering that 1,000 V-Bucks typically retail for $8.99, this strategy effectively offers a 90% discount on the standard market price.

Technically, this isn’t a glitch but rather a consequence of the current terms of service. To close this loophole, Microsoft and Epic Games would likely need to restrict the bonus exclusively to first-time Fortnite Crew members rather than granting it to every Game Pass subscriber.
