Former Assassin’s Creed boss says he “did not walk away” after 20 years as Ubisoft transfers leadership to fit new organizational structure

Despite the difficult circumstances, Côté emphasized he harbors no ill will. He described his long tenure at Ubisoft with gratitude, calling the company his professional home and thanking the people and projects that allowed him to help build worlds enjoyed by millions. He also said he remained at his post until Ubisoft asked him to step aside, characterizing his role as the captain who stays until everyone aboard is safe.

Côté closed his message by thanking those who supported him and signing off with a line familiar to fans of the series: “Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.”

According to his LinkedIn profile, Côté joined Ubisoft in 2005 as a software engineer and rose through the ranks to become executive producer of Assassin’s Creed in 2019 and vice president executive producer in 2022.

Leaks suggest Assassin’s Creed Shadows could arrive on Switch 2 in early December, though that timing would put it just a day after Metroid Prime 4’s launch.
