Greeicy & Alejandro Sanz, “Lejos Conmigo” (UMG Recordings)
Greeicy has landed her “dream collaboration” alongside Spanish crooner Alejandro Sanz for her new track “Lejos Conmigo.” The edgy fusion, produced by Andres Torres and Mauricio Rengifo, one of Billboard‘s Top Producers of the 21st Century, best combines flamenco guitars and a Colombian cumbia with a more sultry melody. In the lyrics, Greeicy’s sensual, sweet vocals join forces with Sanz’s gravelly voice to tell the story of two people who have crazy chemistry and want to get away from everyone and everything. “You should go away, but away with me, to see if this goes away or if we stay together,” they both chant in the chorus. — INGRID FAJARDO
TINI & Manuel Turizo, “Maldita Foto” (Sony Music Latin)
TINI and Manuel Turizo unite their voices on the accessible pop-reggaeton track “Maldita Foto.” Powered by subtle reggaeton drums, the Argentinian songstress and Colombian crooner narrate the story of two exes who, in true serendipitous fashion, spot each other in a photo taken at the right moment and the right place. From then on, it’s a trip down memory lane reminiscing on their time together. “I don’t know who I am when I’m not with you,” TINI declares. “I don’t write you but that doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten about you,” responds Turizo. — GRISELDA FLORES
Calacote & Maffio, “Azafata” (Alkatraks Music Group)
Latino newcomer Calacote decided to take his shot in December by sending artist-producer Maffio a DM on Instagram. The following month, they were recording their first-ever track together, which finally sees the light of day Friday (Aug. 20). Dubbed “Azafata,” the thumping bass and witty lyrics about a flight attendant bring to the forefront Calacote’s musical proposal: fusing his Dominican and French roots to revolutionize the dembow movement. It was his “unique and unheard of” swag and tone of voice — inspired by artists like Arcangel and Residente — that encouraged Maffio to launch his own record label, Alkatraks Music Group, and sign Calacote. “Azafate” marks Calacote’s debut single. Danna Paola, “Kaprichosa” (EMI Music México)
Mexican singer and actress Danna Paola delivers a sorry-not-sorry pop anthem. In “Kaprichosa,” the unapologetic 26-year-old opens the track with almost a warning. “I have seven not five senses. I have 14 lives and not that many friends. And no, I’m not resentful … If I want more, I’ll look for more. I do what I want because I can.” Staying true to her motto of empowering herself and others via her lyrics, the track follows her K.O. album, released earlier this year, with which she scored her first top 10 on Billboard‘s Top Latin Albums chart. — G.F.
Ingrid Contreras, “No Mereces Que Te Quiera” (Show Business)
The ultimate “señoras playlist” — featuring legendary artists such as Rocio Durcal and Jenni Rivera — has helped regional Mexican newcomer Ingrid Contreras cultivate her own sound. Contreras might be young and a new name in the industry, but her powerhouse vocals indicate a mature and refreshing perspective. In “No Mereces Que te Quiera,” penned by Luciano Luna and produced by Ramón Marchena, Contreras presents an empowering and heartfelt mariachi-pop song where she reminds an ex-partner that they were never at her level. “You don’t deserve that I love you / You didn’t give me what I expected of you / You had the honor to love me/ But you know that I was too much for you,” she chants in the chorus. –– J.R.
