By “other platforms,” the director is referring to the PS5, Xbox, and PC. This announcement naturally raises questions about whether a portable hybrid can maintain technical parity, especially as the third installment is expected to push hardware boundaries. However, Hamaguchi insists that the experience will remain consistent across the board.

“I have a firm policy: I don’t want to deliver a diminished gameplay experience simply because of a change in hardware,” he explained. “Doing so creates confusion for players regarding which version to purchase, and that’s something I want to avoid at all costs. The Switch 2 versions are being built to ensure the core experience is virtually identical to every other platform, which should give Nintendo fans peace of mind.”

Given that recent Switch 2 ports like Star Wars Outlaws and Cyberpunk 2077 have already shown remarkable technical prowess—moving far beyond the blurry visuals seen in original Switch ports like The Witcher 3—Hamaguchi’s claims seem highly plausible.

To mark the series’ debut on Switch 2 and Xbox, Final Fantasy 7 Remake is also introducing a “God Mode,” allowing players to deal a massive 9,999 damage with every attack.
