Arknights: Endfield Launch Marred by Random Overcharging; Refunds Already Underway

Arknights: Endfield

I will never financially recover from this from r/Endfield

Fortunately, developer Hypergryph was quick to acknowledge the crisis and implement a solution. Their initial response via the game’s official X (formerly Twitter) account stated that the PayPal payment channel was undergoing “temporary maintenance and upgrades.” While this vague explanation did little to reassure those with empty bank accounts, the studio did confirm that “transactions involving abnormal deductions would be handled accordingly.”

A more detailed follow-up update provided better clarity. “Earlier today, we identified a critical flaw in our payment system affecting a small subset of PayPal purchases made through the official launcher and our top-up site,” the statement explained. “In these instances, there was a major discrepancy between the order placed and the payment processed. This issue was isolated to a specific group of transactions.”

According to the developers, PayPal services were suspended within an hour of the first reports. Seven hours later, a comprehensive audit of all PayPal activity was completed, and the team began issuing full refunds. The studio anticipated that all affected players would see their funds returned within a four-hour window.

As that timeframe has now elapsed, the majority of players should have their balances restored. However, anyone still facing issues is strongly encouraged to contact the Arknights: Endfield support team for manual intervention.

“Maintaining a secure and stable environment is our highest priority,” the developer concluded. “Data integrity is the foundation of our services at GRYPHLINE. The PayPal payment option will remain offline until the system has been exhaustively tested to prevent future errors. We deeply apologize for the stress and inconvenience caused.”
