Ed Sheeran Returns to No. 1 on Billboard Artist 100 Chart, Thanks to ‘=’ Debut

Ed Sheeran jumps from No. 4 to No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated Nov. 13), reigning as the top musical act for a 13th total week, and for the first time since 2019, thanks to the launch of his new LP, =.

The set opens at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 118,000 equivalent album units earned, according to MRC Data, marking his fourth chart-topper, after 2014’s x, 2017’s ÷ and 2019’s No. 6 Collaborations Project.

Sheeran concurrently places three songs from the album on the latest Billboard Hot 100: “Bad Habits” at No. 4, “Shivers” at No. 6 and “Overpass Graffiti” at No. 41.

He last ruled the Artist 100 in 2019, concurrent with the chart start of No. 6 Collaborations Project.

With his 13th week atop the Artist 100, Sheeran breaks out of a tie with Adele and Billie Eilish for the eighth-most weeks spent at No. 1, dating to the chart’s launch in 2014. Taylor Swift leads all acts with 49 weeks at No. 1.

Notably, Sheeran passes Adele for the most time atop the chart among British-born acts.

Drake holds at No. 2 on the Artist 100, thanks to the continued success of Certified Lover Boy, at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 after five weeks at No. 1. He also lands five songs on the Hot 100, led by former leader “Way 2 Sexy,” featuring Future and Young Thug, at No. 7.

Adele drops from No. 1 to No. 3 on the Artist 100, while her “Easy on Me” rules the Hot 100 for a third week. Parent album 30 is due Nov. 19.

Doja Cat climbs 6-4 on the Artist 100, thanks to five songs on the Hot 100, led by “Need to Know” at No. 8, a new high. Her LP Planet Her concurrently places at No. 4 on the Billboard 200.

Rounding out the Artist 100’s top five, Olivia Rodrigo dips 3-5, as Sour ranks at No. 6 on the Billboard 200.

The Artist 100 measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.
