Dying Light 2’s wildcard factions can change the story in “unexpected” methods

Dying Light 2’s demos up to now have targeted on its bigger factions – particularly the Peacekeepers and Scavengers. But its world is colored by quite a few smaller teams who can form its world in stunning methods.

“They are like wildcards that can impact the flow of the story to some extent,” lead designer Tymon Smektala tells us. “Something unexpected. The Untained is one such group.”

The Untained are a radical faction that believes the way in which to salvation is by getting out of your head. In one instance given at Gamescom, the Peacekeepers and Scavengers are combating over a super spot for an outpost – the previous in order that they will create a buying and selling publish, the latter in order that they will produce vegetation for biofuel. But the participant has a 3rd possibility – to assist the Untained in taking up the realm to develop vegetation that may in flip be used to create medicine.

The profit is the introduction of highly effective fight stimulants to your world. The draw back are the stimmed-up bandits now roaming town streets, offering harder encounters. “This is a narrative possibility in the game, because this changes the relationship between the Scavengers and the Peacekeepers,” Smektala says. “And it also changes the gameplay in an unexpected way.”

Wildcard factions will much less widespread than their bigger equivalents, normally tied to particular areas and places. But they’ll present one other means to make sure your playthrough is totally different as soon as Dying Light 2 launches in 2019.
