Doom and The Last of Us Creators Reveal Gameplay for Cyberpunk Project Defect on PS5, XSX, and PC
Emptyvessel is currently in the advanced stages of developing Defect. The studio’s roster is packed with industry veterans whose pedigrees include work on legendary franchises such as Doom, Borderlands, and The Last of Us.
Initial gameplay footage showcases a gritty, dystopian cyberpunk environment where players must engage in high-stakes combat against both human rivals and sophisticated AI-driven adversaries.
While Defect includes a standalone offline mode, the core experience is built around team-based multiplayer, specifically featuring a PvP module for four competing squads. The game’s aggressive, immersive soundtrack is being composed by Mick Gordon, the visionary behind the iconic modern Doom scores.
The development team has indicated that the official premiere is just around the corner. Furthermore, the publisher has confirmed that the title will expand beyond its initial PC announcement to include a full release on consoles.
