Cardi B Confronts Trump Advisor Over Nicki Minaj “Bot” Controversy

Cardi B is standing her ground after Alex Bruesewitz, a prominent advisor to Donald Trump, invoked her name during a heated online debate regarding Nicki Minaj’s recent shift into the conservative political sphere.
The friction began following a Politico report by journalist Jason Beeferman. The article cited a study from Cyabra, a firm specializing in disinformation research, which alleged that approximately 33 percent of the social media accounts engaging with Minaj’s pro-MAGA content over the last two months were actually bots. The findings suggested a calculated, inauthentic effort to amplify the “Super Bass” rapper’s political messaging.
Bruesewitz immediately challenged the report’s integrity. Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on February 23, he claimed the study was biased because Mike G—a United Talent agent who represents Cardi B—is an investor and advisor for Cyabra. Bruesewitz labeled the omission of this connection “inappropriate” and directly tagged Cardi B in his critique.
Cardi B Rebuts “Gaslighting” Attempts
The “WAP” superstar did not take the mention lightly. After reposting a statement from Mike G, which clarified that his business interests in Cyabra have no bearing on Cardi B’s professional affairs, she addressed the Trump advisor directly in a series of pointed posts.
“You involved me and disturbed me for no reason,” she wrote, accusing Bruesewitz of trying to gaslight her. She questioned why he was focusing on personal rivalries rather than addressing the data itself. “Why you not replying to the fact that that’s real data?” she challenged, even threatening legal action for defamation.
Cardi B further emphasized that her focus remains on her professional success and the state of the country rather than years-old industry feuds. “I’m on a sold-out tour and don’t give af about none of what you and your people got going on,” she posted. She highlighted national concerns like rising interest rates and business closures, questioning why a presidential advisor was spending his time “arguing on Twitter with a female rapper.”
The Defense of the “Queen of Hip-Hop”
In a statement provided to Billboard, Bruesewitz dismissed Cardi B’s response as a “dramatic crash out.” He maintained that his intent was simply to point out a potential conflict of interest. “I never said or implied she had personal involvement in the report,” he noted, though he insisted the link between Mike G and Cyabra should have been disclosed given the high-profile history between the two rappers.
His legal counsel, Joe McBride, echoed this sentiment, arguing that Minaj has no need for artificial engagement. “The idea that Nicki needs to buy bots is ridiculous,” McBride stated. “She is the most successful female rapper of all time. She does not need fake engagement.”
Minaj has significantly increased her visibility within conservative circles recently, appearing at Turning Point USA events and conducting interviews with right-wing commentators. This pivot has garnered public praise from several GOP figures. In December, Vice President JD Vance weighed in on the rivalry, simply posting, “Nicki > Cardi.”
Conversely, Cardi B has remained a steadfast critic of the Trump administration, frequently using her platform to advocate for liberal policies. While representatives for Minaj and Politico have yet to comment on the bot allegations, the intersection of hip-hop culture and partisan politics continues to spark intense discourse.
