Sheryl Crow Unveils New ‘Cars’ Song ‘Built to Last’ Ahead of Disney Jr. Spin-Off

A High-Octane Return to Radiator Springs
Sheryl Crow delivered an electrifying surprise during the Disney Experiences Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, marking a celebratory and nostalgic return to Pixar’s celebrated Cars franchise.
Stepping onto the stage at Anaheim’s Honda Center, the nine-time Grammy Award-winning icon unveiled “Built to Last,” the brand-new theme song for the upcoming animated preschool series Cars: Lightning Racers. Crow elevated the crowd’s energy further by delivering a powerhouse rendition of “Real Gone,” her chart-topping anthem originally featured in the inaugural 2006 Cars film.
An Expansive Musical Contribution
Crow’s artistic involvement with the new franchise installment goes far beyond a single track. In addition to composing the show’s titular anthem, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee has penned 10 additional original compositions that will be showcased across the run of Cars: Lightning Racers.
Scheduled to premiere on Disney Jr. and Disney+ in 2027, the animated production is designed to introduce a fresh generation of young viewers to the adventures of Route 66. Franchise veterans are set to reprise their legendary voice roles, including Owen Wilson as the spirited race car Lightning McQueen, Larry the Cable Guy as the lovable tow truck Mater, and Bonnie Hunt as Sally Carrera.
