Chucky creator Don Mancini has responded to Nicki Minaj after the rapper shared an image of the horror character encouraging fans to vote Republican on Election Day.
Minaj posted what appeared to be an AI-generated image of the red-haired doll wearing a pink suit and a “Vote Red” badge. Mancini countered with his own view of how Chucky would have voted on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
“Chucky has a trans kid,” Mancini wrote on X, sharing a photo of a Chucky doll holding a Glenda figurine. “Chucky protects the dolls. Chucky is anti-ICE. Chucky says ‘A BLUE WAVE’ is coming, as BLUE as my f–kin’ eyes!”
Glenda, who sometimes goes by Glen, is a character in the Child’s Play franchise and the offspring of Chucky and his doll “bride,” Tiffany. Glen(da)’s gender and expression are fluid in the movies.
After Democrats took back control of the Senate and House of Representatives on Tuesday and won numerous local elections, Mancini shared an edited version of his Chucky photo with blue hair. “Too bad, Nicki!” he wrote. “No AI, by the way! #bluewave”
Minaj has referenced Chucky before, including in her verse on Ye’s “Monster,” where she compares herself to the doll’s bride. In 2019, she and her husband, Kenneth Petty, dressed as Tiffany and Chucky for Halloween. Petty was sentenced in 2022 to three years’ probation and a year of home detention for failing to register as a sex offender in connection with his 1995 conviction for attempted rape in the first degree.
Minaj has also used Chucky photos and memes on social media, including in posts taunting Democrats since she publicly joined the MAGA movement. “HAPPY ELECTION DAY!!!” she wrote on X Tuesday alongside the image of Chucky.
Minaj has not posted since the election results. She last released music in 2024, reaching No. 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 with the Megan Thee Stallion diss track “Big Foot” and No. 68 with “AGATS2 (Insecure),” a posthumous duet with Juice WRLD.
