Democrats regained control of the Senate and the House of Representatives, flipping Senate seats in Texas, Maine, Kansas, Iowa, Ohio, North Carolina and South Carolina. Two dozen House seats also flipped to Democrats.

The results leave President Donald Trump facing a Democratic-controlled Congress for the final two years of his presidency. Artists and actors were among those who shared their reactions to the Democratic victory.

Mandy Moore followed the count on Instagram Stories, writing, “Texas, this keeps getting better and better…” In another post, she called politician, lawyer and voting rights activist Stacey Abrams “a hero” who “opened the door for tonight.”

Henry Winkler, who played the Fonz on Happy Days, responded to a post on X from Joanne Carducci asking, “Checking in — how are you all feeling right now?!!!” Winkler wrote, “Dreams do come true.”

Before the election, Olivia Rodrigo, Willie Nelson, Tinashe and Bruce Springsteen urged Americans to vote.

On the eve of Election Day, the White House TikTok account shared a pro-Trump video using Slovak artist Adéla’s song “Nicole Kidman.” In her own TikTok, Adéla said the administration’s choice of song was “obviously so f—ing wrong, on so many levels. Because I stand for about zero of the things that that party stands for, and that person stands for.” Adéla could not vote, but encouraged those who could to do so, posting a “Go Vote” message with a blue heart.

Springsteen also addressed election officials. “Our vote is our voice,” he said. “And it’s up to you to ensure that our voice is heard.”

Rodrigo supported Amy Acton’s campaign for Ohio governor by wearing a shirt reading “Dr. Amy Acton for Governor” in Columbus during her Unraveled Tour on Oct. 29. She also posted a “vote” montage on social media on Election Day. Acton, a Democratic physician, defeated Republican Vivek Ramaswamy, a billionaire tech mogul and former brief DOGE department co-leader who ran a controversial attack ad.

Actors Alyssa Milano, Molly Ringwald and John Leguizamo, along with talk-show hosts Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert, also posted about the results. In his opening monologue, Jimmy Kimmel Live host Kimmel mocked Trump, JD Vance and Trump’s MAGA circle. “It seems to be after all the talk about Nicki Minaj’s ass, Jon Husted’s ass, the only ass on Trump’s mind tonight is the one that just got handed to him,” he said.
