Jonas Brothers Debut New Song ‘Listen When Sad’ on Tour: Release Date Revealed

Few pop acts sustain the relentless momentum of the Jonas Brothers—and the sibling powerhouse has raised the bar once again.
Opening their highly anticipated “Burning Up Tour All Over Again” trek on Thursday (Aug. 20), the trio surprised a capacity crowd at New York City’s Madison Square Garden with the live debut of their upcoming single, “Listen When Sad.” Dressed in sharp monochrome suits, Nick and Joe Jonas traded nostalgic verses over punchy, guitar-driven pop-rock hooks, serenading the arena with reflections on teenage romance and handmade CD mixes.
Slated for official release on Friday, Aug. 28, “Listen When Sad” marks a long-awaited studio reunion with veteran producer John Fields. Fields was instrumental in shaping the group’s foundational catalog, notably helming their 2008 Billboard Hot 100 top-five breakthrough, “Burnin’ Up.”
“There’s something deeply meaningful about revisiting one of the defining chapters of our creative evolution and tapping back into the alternative and emo inspirations that shaped us,” the band shared in a joint statement. “To us, this song bridges our musical heritage with the artists we are today, and we are thrilled to finally share it.”
The new offering delivers a resonant full-circle moment, blending effortlessly into a dynamic setlist that bridges early career anthems such as “S.O.S.” and “Lovebug” with modern commercial triumphs including “Only Human,” “Love Me to Heaven,” and their chart-topping, Grammy-nominated juggernaut “Sucker.”
Produced by Live Nation, the nationwide arena tour launched with three back-to-back sellouts at MSG before heading to major markets including Toronto, Las Vegas, and Nashville. The run is scheduled to wrap up on Dec. 21 with a homecoming celebration at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
The brothers’ latest concert venture arrives hot on the heels of Camp Rock 3, which debuted on Disney+ on Aug. 16. Alongside longtime co-star Demi Lovato, the brothers reprised their roles and served as executive producers, reviving their on-screen persona Connect 3 to deliver the soundtrack’s lead record, “Come On Over.”
