Acclaimed actor Jared Harris, best known for his haunting lead role in Chernobyl, has officially joined the cast of the supernatural thriller What Happens at Night. The project is a collaboration between visionary director Martin Scorsese and Apple Studios, as first reported by Deadline.
Harris enters an elite ensemble that already boasts the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Mads Mikkelsen, and Patricia Clarkson. For now, the specific details surrounding Harris’s character are being kept strictly under wraps.
Adapted from Peter Cameron’s celebrated novel, What Happens at Night follows a couple journeying to a remote, snow-drenched European town to finalize an adoption. Their odyssey takes a surreal turn when they check into a crumbling, atmospheric hotel inhabited by a collection of eccentric and enigmatic figures.
Principal photography has already commenced on location in Prague, with a theatrical debut projected for 2027. Harris was recently involved in Kathryn Bigelow’s latest project and is also set to portray Mikhail Gorbachev in the upcoming historical drama Reykjavik.
