It did not take long for CD Projekt Red to make its arrangements since this morning, very early, the studio’s Twitter account posted a long message in which it first apologizes to the players. To have deceived them and not to have shown the rendering on old gen ‘consoles, thus misleading them in their purchase. The developers explain that they are working hard to fix as many bugs as possible in a minimum of time, but that it will take several patches and several weeks (or even months) before obtaining a satisfactory result. CD Projekt Red is aware of having disappointed the players and its community, but asks to give them a second chance while awaiting the arrival of the fixes. However, if the indulgence of the players is not enough, they specify that it is now possible to be reimbursed.
There are several ways to request reimbursement. For digital versions, simply use the usual PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE refund systems, while those who have purchased a physical version must go to the store when the purchase has been made for a refund. . In case of refusal, CD Projekt Red offers to make direct contact via the email address “helpmerefund@cdprojektred.com” before December 21, 2020.
This is of course a first in the world of video games, but such a case will at best set a precedent for the future, at worst be a textbook case that will obviously never be repeated. In the meantime, the reputation of the Polish studio is now tarnished and it will undoubtedly take much more than an apology and a refund to make people forget such a drama. We obviously wish them all the courage in the world for the coming months which will not be easy to manage.
