Price Tag on GTA 6: $70, $80, $90, or $100? Today at 6:30 PM by OPla G30

The next most important question after the release date is the cost of a copy of GTA 6. Currently, new AAA titles are sold at a standard price of $70, but it’s expected that Rockstar Games’ next hit will be more expensive, impacting all games.

If Grand Theft Auto VI is priced at $80, all industry representatives will automatically adjust their prices. Projects that were $70 will rise to $80; those at $60 will go to $70, and so on. But what if Take-Two wants to charge $90 or even $100? Gamers might be able to fork out such a hefty sum for one highly anticipated game, but doing so regularly? This might be more of a psychological shock than a financial one since consumers are already paying hundreds for their favorite entertainment. These costs are often disguised as exclusive perks like unique content or early access. R* could be the first to demand more for the standard edition.

If one Franklin (not Clinton) seems too much, then an $80-90 range is more likely. An analyst, who previously predicted the price, compares: GTA 5 in today’s money was $83, and GTA 4 was $90.

One way to lessen the financial burden on consumers is by separating the single-player and multiplayer modes, as they have done with GTA Online. However, this is more forward-thinking because who would want to dive into multiplayer without experiencing the storyline? But purchasing it separately when transitioning to new platforms (PC and subsequent console generations) is another matter.

Certain concerns were raised in the community about the desire of the current U.S. president’s administration to impose additional tariffs initially on Canada, Mexico, and China (where not only hardware but also discs are made), and later globally. Fortunately, Trump’s initiative is currently on hold, and there is a precedent with the Nintendo Switch 2, whose pre-order for the U.S. wasn’t opened immediately, although the price didn’t increase eventually. But what about tomorrow?
