Control, the subsequent game from Alan Wake developer Remedy, is out this August, however the studio is already gearing up for post-launch help.
“There’s going to be two expansions, and there’s going to be some content in-between the main game and the expansions,” Remedy communications director Thomas Puha tells VG247 at PAX East.
“But the main concern right now is just getting Control done, make it as good as it can be. On a high level we know what the expansions are, but we’re really going to get to that once we ship the game.”
Over the previous couple of years, the corporate has been trying to place itself in a spot the place it has more control over its future, therefore the identify of its upcoming game. This new stage of free-will is what permits Remedy to plan forward and help its games post-launch.
With Control, that post-launch help will come within the type of two premium expansions and a number of free updates.
“We had a bunch of ideas two-or-three years ago that we can’t execute right now, of course, because there’s a million ideas for the game,” Puha explains. “Hopefully we are able to revisit a few of these within the expansions.
“I feel we’ve mentioned that the primary one we’re aiming for is winter 2019, so someplace there. I get that there’s [some] concern that persons are like, ‘Oh, they’re slicing content material already from the game’. No, we’re not.”
