Closing of the Social Club

At the beginning of the week, the developers updated their official site: we redesigned the header, added an animated R* logo in the upper left corner and made a number of other changes. All this, of course, is preparation for the new era that will come with the release of the trailer GTA 6. But as one era begins, another comes to an end. Now the end of the era is the time of Social Club, a social network that has been integrated into the Rockstar Games ecosystem.

The Social Club platform was founded on April 29, 2008 along with the release GTA 4. Its tasks and functions included uniting gamers into gangs, finding friends, saving game statistics and much more. Over time and a considerable number of updates (for example, in 2013 And 2018) there were more and more opportunities at SotsClub. And the day before, the profile counter in RGSC was updated – the long-standing “Join more than 100 million users” sign was replaced with a similar one with a number of 200 million. However, on November 20, 2023, almost all mentions, logos and images containing the inscription Social Club or its variations , were removed. Nowadays you can still find individual places where CS occurs (for example, in a domain name socialclub.rockstargames.com), but there are fewer and fewer of them. Phrases like Social Club friends or members were changed to Rockstar Games friends/members. However, no other changes were made – your statistics, gangs, photos/videos and everything else are in place. In general, “SotsClub” continues to function, just without its name. The term Rockstar Games Social Club has sunk into history after 15 and a half years of existence.
