Randy Pitchford says he’d like to borrow a page from Hideo Kojima’s playbook — the famed creator who often scans real people (and, reportedly, even spirits) into his games — by immortalizing a real-life fan in Borderlands 4.
The Gearbox CEO shared the anecdote on social media, describing how an airport security worker in Australia stopped him at the body scanner and asked, “Has anyone ever told you that you look like Randy Pitchford?”
Pitchford then appealed to his followers to help identify the security officer: “It was at Cairns airport at around 8:20am on October 10 Australia time at the body scanner. If anyone can find the guy and prompt him to reach out to me.” His reason? He wants to “make an NPC or a gun or a side quest after him” because the encounter “made my day.”
Borderlands 4 lead gives fans “7 days notice” as Gearbox targets broken builds — fixes for “unintended interactions in certain Vault Hunter skills” are due next week.
