“We’re excited for fans to experience these characters in a modernized way,” Kodaka says of *Danganronpa 2×2*, doubling down on the fact that the game serves as a “retelling” rather than a simple reconstruction of the original story.
Despite the differences, Kodaka admits that revisiting this world has been a sentimental experience. “It feels very nostalgic to work with characters I created ten years ago and integrate them into this new framework,” he reflects. “Continuing this work definitely brings a lot of old memories to the surface.”
Think of it as a significant comeback—just don’t mistake it for a remake.
If you’re looking for something else, The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy may not be Persona meets XCOM, but it’s an ideal experience for Steam Deck enthusiasts.
