Beyoncé‘s mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson, revealed that the family is “heartbroken” over the death of the singer’s longtime bodyguard and personal trailer, Craig Adams. In a loving Instagram post Aug. 11, Lawson revealed that Adams, 67, died recently after contracting COVID-19.
“I found out this morning that this amazing human being Craig Adams from Houston passed away last night from Covid,” Lawson wrote. “This horrible killer disease attacked his organs, his lungs first made him have kidney failure and as hard as he fought he succumbed to the disease last night.”
According to Houston’s ABC 13, Adams’ family said he was not vaccinated against the novel coronavirus.
“Craig was a fitness trainer and was healthy! This is only the latest of Many friends and family that were lost to Covid,” Knowles-Lawson continued in her tribute, which paid homage to the well-known trainer who started out as a fitness coach for Destiny’s Child and later worked security for Queen Bey. “He was like a family member . Such a beautiful human being , kind , loving, and gentle. RIP Craig we love you!”
Speaking to ABC13, Knowles-Lawson said she’s lost a number of people who she knew and loved who’ve died as a result of the virus that has killed more than 620,000 Americans to date. “There is a vaccination out there so we have got to get vaccinated so we can protect our loves ones, so we can protect our children and grandchildren.”
According to the latest figures from the CDC, more than 195 million Americans (59.2%)have received at least one dose of the vaccines, while 167 million (50.4%) are fully vaccinated, well short of the figures experts say are necessary to reach the level of herd immunity that could help beat back the virus that is once again raging out of control due to the highly contagious Delta variant.
