“It’s one of those elements you eventually grow used to, but we didn’t anticipate the level of pushback it would receive. We realized that many players still prefer that silent, immersive role-playing experience. That’s why, when we moved on to *Starfield*, we returned to an unvoiced protagonist. We recognized that was what the fans truly wanted, and we were happy to deliver on that preference.”
Controversies aside, *Fallout 4* has been a monumental success for Bethesda. The RPG famously moved 12 million units during its launch window alone. Sales have undoubtedly continued to climb in the decade since, particularly following the massive success of the Amazon Prime *Fallout* series, which is currently deep in production for its second season.
