Bethesda is Overhauling Its Engine in the Style of Unreal Engine — Insider

It appears that The Elder Scrolls VI is being positioned as a significant technological leap forward.

Recent whispers have begun to circulate regarding the development of “Starfield 2.0″—a comprehensive overhaul designed to substantially refine and enhance Bethesda’s space-faring RPG.

Jez Corden, a prominent industry insider and journalist for Windows Central, recently addressed the speculation surrounding this potential modernization of Starfield.

According to his sources, developers are currently re-engineering the Creation Engine to mirror the capabilities of Unreal Engine. This involves adapting specific high-end features and integrating them directly into Bethesda’s proprietary architecture.

These engine optimizations are reportedly a collaborative effort, involving specialists from the Microsoft Advanced Technology Group working alongside veterans from The Coalition to enhance the software across all technical pillars.

The prevailing theory is that “Starfield 2.0” will serve as a sophisticated proving ground. The advancements made during this process are expected to form the technical foundation for the next chapter in the fantasy saga, The Elder Scrolls VI.
