Addressing fan concerns regarding Major Orders—with some players arguing that certain objectives have been impossible to achieve—Jorjani stood by the design team. He explained that while he isn’t intimately involved in every mission parameter, Arrowhead has never intentionally released a “mathematically impossible” order. Instead, they are designed to be exceptionally difficult, though the community has frequently risen to the occasion and exceeded expectations.
This dynamic storytelling is orchestrated by the game’s notorious Game Master, Joel, whose role has matured significantly since the game’s debut. Jorjani’s latest comments highlight a commitment to a “living” game world where the path forward is never entirely set in stone.
“We operate very much like a Dungeon Master in a traditional roleplaying game,” Jorjani explained. “We map out various potential outcomes within a broad campaign framework. We have a general idea of where we want the story to be by the next major update, but the exact route depends on player action. Maintaining that level of fluid, open-ended development is a massive undertaking.”
