An exhibit celebrating the life and legacy of Aretha Franklin is coming to her hometown of Detroit. “Think: A Tribute to the Queen of Soul” premieres at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History on Tuesday, the Detroit Free Press experiences. It’s set to function images and video of Franklin, in addition to the pink robe and sneakers that she wore throughout the two-day public viewing that adopted her death on August 16. The unique vinyl copy of her very first recording, 1956’s “Never Grow Old,” will even be on show. “This is an opportunity for people to come back and engage, reminisce and reflect,” says Wright museum board member Kelly Major Green.
“Think” runs by way of January 21, Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Find photos of the exhibit by way of the Detroit Free Press. The Franklin property is planning a longer-term exhibit for the soul singer, focused to open by 2020.
